Hello! I’m James

I’ve been working in tech for over 17 years in various forms from IT support, to sysadmin, and now cyber security. Since 2019 I’ve been working as a sales engineer at various global cyber security vendors.

Expertise

As a career generalist I’ve been exposed to a wide scope spanning threat intelligence, security operations, risk management, identity, infrastructure, and a bunch more in between. Definitely more of a jack-of-all-trades, though I currently specialise in threat intelligence, from my time at Digital Shadows and now Trellix.

Speaking

More recently I’ve been active at industry events, including AISA CyberCon Canberra and ISACA. Once something that terrified me, I now enjoy public speaking at events and love the marketing aspects of my day job!

Home lab

As a sales engineer I don’t always get time ‘on the tools’ like I used to, so I use my home lab to learn when I can. Right now I’m working on Kubernetes, to build upon a solid understanding of Docker, and I’m exploring AI (like literally everyone else right now.)
